“WPNSA will provide our sailors with an absolutely top class base for our training to take place. Having the facility completed early will enable the sailors to maximise the time they have in the UK, gaining valuable knowledge of the local conditions. The funds ploughed into by Sport England and now the Olympic organisers are already enabling many locals access to watersports. This will provide a powerful legacy for future generations of sailors. UK sailing is a major success story at the moment and this facility will go a long way towards ensuring that remains the case.”

“I love training in Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour as they offer a wide range of sailing conditions. The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy is an unbeatable venue for disabled sailors with new, purpose built, facilities. For example, there are disabled access hoists on the pontoons, providing the safest access to tidal waters for people with disabilities anywhere in the UK. I don’t know of any other sailing venue where the needs of sailors of all abilities are so well catered for.”

" On behalf of the Hunter 707 Class I would like to thank WPNSA very much for running our National Championships. Your race team was superb. I had so many reports of good start lines and courses. The team worked extremely well and put on an excellent championships in spite of the terrible weather. The organisation ashore was also very good from the event director and his helpers to all the team involved with catering".

"I would like to thank the WPNSA team for all the hard work put in during our 2008 Tempest World Championships. It was a first class effort and appreciated by us all. The race management by Frank Newton and his team was excellent. The courses were well set, and mark laying and moving was very well done and unobtrusive. The team managed to cope with all levels of sailing from club to world class sailors. Thanks again for a good and well run event".

"I would like to thank the Academy for all the support and help you have given. We really appreciate your flexibility towards our coaches and sailors and without this; we could not have prepared our team as well as we did. A lot of recent training at WPNSA was for the 2008 ISAF Youth Worlds in Denmark. As you may be aware team GB came home with two Gold medals, a bronze and the volvo trophy for the highest performing nation. I really do believe this is a huge success and made more so by the service that you at WPNSA provide".
Simon Wergan (Youth Racing Manager RYA) |
“In my mind, Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour are the finest sailing areas in the UK. With the development of the new purpose built, on-shore facilities at the Academy, it’s in an unbeatable place to train, what ever your level.”

"Just to say a big thank you to WPNSA for another great weekend and for the efficient organisation of all at W&PNSA. They run like clockwork which makes it so enjoyable for us. It’s also nice being able to leave it all to someone else! Thanks also to Laurie for acting as our race officer – it makes a lot of difference when you have confidence in the race officer – which we all do – just hope we behaved our selves".
